The Oregon Center for the Arts (OCA) at Southern Oregon University is a vibrant hub for artistic expression, education, and performance. From world-class concerts to inspiring theatrical productions, we serve as a cultural cornerstone for Southern Oregon and beyond. We are now seeking a customer-focused Box Office Specialist to join our front-of-house team and help deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Position Summary:

As a Box Office Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for patrons attending performances and events. Your role is essential in providing excellent customer service, managing ticket sales, resolving inquiries, and maintaining an efficient box office operation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process ticket sales in-person, online, and via phone using the designated ticketing software
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to patrons, staff, and performers
  • Assist with box office setup before performances and events
  • Troubleshoot and resolve ticketing or seating issues
  • Maintain accurate cash handling and daily sales reports
  • Update event listings and seating charts as needed
  • Work collaboratively with production, marketing, and operations staff
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility and safety protocols during events
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Previous experience in customer service, event operations, or retail sales
  • Familiarity with ticketing platforms (e.g., AudienceView, Tessitura, or similar systems) a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and remain calm under pressure
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and event dates as required
