About the Project:
We’re launching a one-of-a-kind Indian-themed café in Suffolk County and are seeking an experienced Architect with a creative eye for blending cultural authenticity with modern functionality. From Mughal arches to earthy textures and vibrant regional palettes, this space will celebrate the spirit of India — through architecture, materials, and ambiance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize and develop full architectural plans and mood boards
- Collaborate with owners to interpret Indian aesthetic and functionality into floor plans
- Design café interiors including seating layout, kitchen back-of-house, counter/service areas, and bathrooms
- Coordinate with local contractors, zoning, and permitting bodies (Suffolk County-specific codes)
- Recommend materials, lighting, and furnishings in line with Indian design elements
- Provide 3D renders and walkthroughs as needed
- Oversee design execution through to construction (or via periodic site visits if hybrid)
Preferred Experience:
- 5+ years in hospitality or café/restaurant architecture
- Strong portfolio showcasing theme-based or culturally inspired spaces
- Familiarity with Suffolk County building regulations & permits
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar software
- Appreciation and understanding of Indian architecture (traditional or modern fusion)
Bonus:
- Interior design certification or cross-training
- Experience working with international teams or ethnic retail/restaurants
- Knowledge of vastu principles (optional)
