About the position

The Manager for Center and Initiative Communications at Johns Hopkins University is responsible for supporting the marketing and communications efforts of the Carey Business School’s academic and research centers. This role involves collaborating with faculty and staff to enhance brand awareness, streamline processes, and promote the centers’ initiatives effectively. The manager will lead the execution of marketing plans, manage budgets, and ensure adherence to brand guidelines while facilitating high-profile events and internal communications.

Responsibilities
• Integrate the mission and interests of Carey’s centers into overall brand awareness efforts.

• Develop annual marketing plans for each center, establishing priorities for support.
,
• Lead the execution of center marketing plans in collaboration with MarComm team members and external vendors.
,
• Anticipate marketing and communications needs and advise center directors on best practices.
,
• Manage external vendors for marketing needs, including proposal sourcing and contract execution.
,
• Oversee the centers’ support budget allocated from MarComm’s overall budget.
,
• Research and identify opportunities for establishing presence in relevant areas.
,
• Ensure adherence to Johns Hopkins University and Carey Business School brand guidelines.
,
• Publicize the work and outcomes of Carey’s centers to various audiences.
,
• Collaborate with writers to craft narratives for web publications and marketing collateral.
,
• Identify brand-building opportunities to align each center with Carey Business School.
,
• Facilitate internal communications to familiarize the Carey community with each center’s work.
,
• Coordinate and manage competing priorities among centers and other school interests.
,
• Facilitate content management for center web pages and the broader Carey Business School website.
,
• Evaluate and report on metrics regarding digital and media distribution of center-related content.
,
• Design and distribute print and digital collateral as needed for centers.
,
• Facilitate coordination and execution of high-profile speaking events related to centers.
,
• Assist in marketing and communication efforts for high-profile speaker events.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
,
• Four years of related experience in marketing or communications.

Nice-to-haves
• Five or more years of related experience in advanced public relations or communications preferred.
