Front-Line Flight Engineering Manager | GN&C Subsystem Company: The Boeing Company Boeing’s Space Mission Systems (SMS) Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) capability is seeking a Front-Line Flight Engineering Manager to provide day-to-day leadership for a functional organization with 20+ staff performing spacecraft Guidance, Navigation & Control (GN&C) subsystem engineering in El Segundo, CA. This functional manager will be responsible for setting the strategy and vision as well as developing implementation plans to provide the people, processes, and tools to execute GN&C engineering work scope for our El Segundo spacecraft business. Position Responsibilities: GN&C end-to-end life cycle engineering including requirements definition, design, implementation, and verification of spacecraft control functions. Mission analysis definition and embedded algorithm development and implementation. Proactive management of staffing assignments including recruitment, hiring, staffing, growth, and retention of engineers. Manage, mentor, and facilitate development and growth of subsystem engineers. Create, maintain, and apply tools and processes. Maintain a technology & tools roadmap that enables sustained future improvement. Engaging in end-to-end program lifecycle planning and execution (cost, schedule, technical, quality). Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with a broad set of stakeholders including customers, peers, direct reports, all spacecraft subsystems, and mission operations. Conduct performance appraisals and salary reviews as well as administer required company training. Provide factory support as needed for on-orbit fault related signatures or issues. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. 5+ years of experience in engineering and technical leadership experience in GN&C technologies, (In particular flight vehicle management systems design, analysis, validation, and testing). 1+ year of experience leading multi-disciplined complex engineering projects across multiple organizations. 3+ years of experience using analytical, collaboration, communication, and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Experience with trade studies related to GN&C. Experience in aerospace operations and environments is desired. Experience with Attitude Control Subsystems (ACS) requirements verification and validation. Experience working with flight software development or auto-coding process. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent communications skills, verbal and written. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners. Master of Science in an engineering discipline. Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust. Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes. Previous experience in leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams. Experience providing active mentorship and career guidance.
