We are currently seeking an experienced RCM Specialist – Collections to join our team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the efficient and effective management of medical collections, optimizing cash flow, and driving success for our healthcare clients.
About the Role:
As the RCM Specialist – Collections, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the collections process for healthcare accounts, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and working to resolve outstanding claims. You will collaborate with other team members to optimize processes, reduce accounts receivable, and enhance the overall revenue cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full collections process for healthcare accounts, including contacting payers, following up on outstanding claims, and ensuring timely payments.
- Review and analyze unpaid claims, denials, and underpayments to identify root causes and work with relevant departments to resolve issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all collection activities, including documentation of actions taken and responses received.
- Work closely with the billing team to ensure proper claim submission and minimize the risk of denials.
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and other stakeholders to resolve collection issues and disputes.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, payer guidelines, and company policies throughout the collections process.
- Generate and review reports on aging accounts and develop strategies to reduce outstanding balances.
- Assist in improving internal processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the revenue cycle.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, insurance companies, and other partners to facilitate smooth communication and resolution of billing issues.
- Collaborate with management to achieve departmental goals and improve overall revenue cycle performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in healthcare collections or revenue cycle management (RCM).
- Strong knowledge of medical billing codes, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
- Experience working with payer systems and understanding of claim submission and adjudication processes.
- Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems, healthcare billing software, and other relevant tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, insurance companies, and internal teams.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to resolve complex billing issues.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative remote team environment.
- Knowledge of payer guidelines, CPT, ICD-10 codes, and other healthcare coding systems is a plus.
