We are seeking an experienced Federal Benefits Consultant – Insurance & Annuity Specialist to join our team. About the Role:
As a Federal Benefits Consultant – Insurance & Annuity Specialist, you will work with federal employees, retirees, and their families to provide expert guidance on navigating federal benefits, including insurance options, retirement planning, and annuities. You will be responsible for educating clients on their benefits options, analyzing their needs, and recommending the most suitable insurance and annuity products to help them secure a comfortable retirement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert consulting services to federal employees regarding their federal benefits, including insurance options, retirement plans, and annuities.
- Analyze clients’ needs and develop customized benefit strategies to maximize their federal benefits and prepare for retirement.
- Educate clients on the nuances of federal benefits, including the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB), Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP), Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP), and Thrift Savings Plan (TSP).
- Advise clients on annuity products and options to supplement their federal benefits and enhance their retirement income.
- Review and explain the advantages and limitations of different insurance plans and annuity products, helping clients make informed decisions.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in federal benefit programs, insurance products, and annuity options to provide clients with the most current information.
- Assist clients with enrollment processes, claims, and resolving any benefit-related issues.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring they receive the best possible service and support.
- Work closely with internal teams to track client interactions, monitor benefits changes, and provide ongoing support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a federal benefits consultant, insurance agent, or annuity specialist.
- In-depth knowledge of federal benefits programs, including FEHB, FEDVIP, FLTCIP, TSP, and related insurance and annuity options.
- Proven experience in advising clients on insurance and annuity products for retirement planning.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits information in a clear and understandable manner.
- Strong analytical skills to assess clients’ needs and recommend appropriate products and strategies.
- Ability to stay current on regulatory changes and updates to federal benefits programs.
- Experience with government programs, especially federal employee benefits, is highly desirable.
- Certification in insurance or financial planning (e.g., CFP, CLU) is a plus.
