We are currently seeking an Immigration Paralegal to support our legal team and assist in providing top-notch immigration services to our clients.
Position Summary
The Immigration Paralegal will assist our legal team in all aspects of immigration law, providing support with case preparation, documentation, and client communication. This role requires an individual with strong organizational skills, an understanding of immigration procedures, and the ability to manage a large volume of cases. The Immigration Paralegal will work remotely and collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure that all immigration-related matters are handled efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Case Management: Assist in managing immigration cases, ensuring that all deadlines are met and that documentation is complete and accurate.
- Document Preparation: Prepare and review immigration forms, petitions, and applications for various visa types, including but not limited to H-1B, L-1, O-1, Green Cards, and other work visas.
- Client Communication: Communicate directly with clients to gather information, provide updates, and answer questions about the immigration process.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research on current immigration laws and procedures to assist attorneys in developing case strategies.
- Filing: Submit applications to the appropriate governmental agencies (e.g., USCIS, DOS, DOL), ensuring proper filing and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Documentation Review: Review and organize client documents, ensuring compliance with immigration regulations and law.
- Deadline Management: Track and manage case deadlines, ensuring timely filings and responses to government agencies.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with attorneys and other paralegals to prepare case strategies and assist with legal drafting and correspondence.
Required Skills and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution.
- Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience working as an immigration paralegal or in a similar legal support role.
- Knowledge of Immigration Law: In-depth understanding of U.S. immigration processes, including visa petitions, Green Cards, H-1B, L-1, PERM, and family-based immigration.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, government agencies, and colleagues.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software (e.g., Clio, LawLogix, or similar tools).
- Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle large volumes of paperwork and maintain case files in a systematic manner.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and proactively resolve issues that may arise during the immigration process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in Additional Languages: Spanish or other foreign languages is a plus, but not required.
- Experience with Corporate Immigration: Experience assisting businesses with employment-based immigration matters, including H-1B, PERM, and L-1 visa applications, is a plus.
- Familiarity with E-Verify and Other Government Systems: Experience using government portals such as USCIS’s E-Verify or the Department of Labor’s PERM system is advantageous.
