Job Summary:

The Aircraft Composite Bond Technician specializes in the bonding and assembly of composite materials used in aircraft structures. This role requires expertise in composite material handling, surface preparation, bonding techniques, and curing processes, ensuring the integrity and strength of bonded structures in compliance with aerospace industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
• Composite Material Preparation:
• Prepare composite materials, including pre-preg, resin, and adhesive systems, for bonding applications.
• Conduct surface preparation processes such as sanding, cleaning, and priming to ensure optimal bonding.
• Bonding and Lay-Up:
• Execute lay-up operations by layering composite materials according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Apply adhesives and perform bonding operations using techniques such as vacuum bagging and out-of-autoclave (OOA) curing.
• Operate autoclaves and other curing equipment, ensuring precise control of temperature and pressure during the bonding process.
• Assembly and Finishing:
• Assemble and finish bonded composite components, including trimming, drilling, and final fitting to precise tolerances.
• Install fasteners, bushings, and other hardware to complete the assembly of bonded structures.
• Inspection and Quality Assurance:
• Perform inspections of bonded structures for defects such as voids, delamination, and misalignment using visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
• Maintain detailed records of all bonding processes, inspections, and test results to ensure traceability and compliance with quality standards.
• Tooling and Equipment Maintenance:
• Set up, operate, and maintain bonding tools and equipment, ensuring they are calibrated and in good working condition.
• Fabricate and maintain tooling, jigs, and fixtures necessary for composite bonding and assembly processes.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper handling of hazardous materials such as resins, adhesives, and solvents.
• Ensure all work complies with industry regulations, including FAA standards and company quality assurance policies.
