We are seeking Data Entry Technician for a potential upcoming project to join our team and support the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Program with knowledge of databases required and geographic information system (GIS) platforms a plus. Please note, this position requires travel up to 6 times a year with length of up to 5 days per trip. Please only apply if you can commit to this.
Key Responsibilities
• Work with Manager to input, update, delete, and review data.
• Work with Manager and other specialists (District/field office specialists) to translate digital/paper files into data for entry into database.
• Support the data integrity of the program by providing Quality Assurance Quality Control(QA/QC) of inputted environmental data.
• Work with Manager to document and improve the overall quality of data.
• Generate digital map products using related data.
• Assist with data sharing and data management activities.
• Coordinate with the Manager for data management as follows:
• Review/input data to database, for approximately 41,000 sites* and 70,000 features*
• Re-evaluate and update approximately 50,000 features nationwide.
• Check and verify approximately 130,000 feature records for accuracy.
• Check and verify approximately 60,000 site records for accuracy.
Qualifications:
• Associate or Bachelor Degree in Computer Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in data entry experience (working with geographic information system (GIS) platforms a plus); Familiarity with database management systems and data entry software required
• Strong background in information technologies and business process analysis
• Attention to detail is a must! Ability to identify and correct errors in data inputs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision; Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Typing speed of at least 40-60 words per minute (WPM) with high accuracy.
• Basic understanding of data protection protocols and procedures.
• Good time management skills to handle high volumes of data and meet deadlines.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions carefully.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accurate data entry.
This is a Remote position (with travel REQUIRED)
Work Days: Monday – Friday (40hr a week)
Normal duty hours are 7 :30am to 5:30 pm (time may be adjusted accordingly), Monday through Friday (excluding Federal Holidays).

Period of Performance: 12 months

Travel:
The travel associated with this requirement will be as follows: Each data entry technician could be required to travel up to six (6) times per year. The travel would typically be five (5) working days or less to Colorado or other BLM offices within the continental United States.
