In this role, you will :
Responsibility 1 – Develop, monitor and manage grant and foundation applications
• Achieves annual financial goal.
• Researches and identifies grant opportunities from domestic foundations, government agencies and other granting organizations, maintaining up-to-date list of grant opportunities in their region.
• Develops a thorough understanding of CRC programs and activities.
• Develops and initiates grant strategies with Senior Manager and program staff based on CRC funding priorities and revenue goals.
• Leads the development of compelling grant proposals, applications and letters of inquiry that are tailored to the specific requirements of each funding opportunity, working across multiple teams to gather CRC information and data.
• Manages grant life cycle and internal work back plans, ensuring deadlines are met in accordance with funder guidelines and appropriate internal sign offs are completed.
• Proactively cultivates and maintains relationships with current and prospective granting organizations and Donor Advised Fund
• Foundations, acting as liaison in their region.
• Ensures detailed application and interaction records are maintained in Blackbaud CRM and SharePoint, providing Senior
• Manager with regular updates on progress towards goals.
• Works with Foundations and Grants team to maintain team library of grant documentation.
• Supports senior leadership, executives and volunteers in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of transformational donors.
• Maintains current knowledge of grant and fundraising trends.
Responsibility 2 – Grant Management
• Leads development of compelling interim and final reports in coordination with program staff, ensuring deadlines and recognition requirements are met in accordance with agreements.
• Effectively monitors and communicates updates on funded projects with granting organizations.
• Ensures detailed grant management records are maintained in Blackbaud and SharePoint, providing Senior Manager with regular updates on progress.
Responsibility 3 – International and domestic disaster appeals support
• Disseminate communications with grant-making organizations and Donor Advised Fund Foundations during times of disasters, to share information and gain support.
• As appropriate, provide support for other Philanthropy channels during appeals.
What we are looking for :
• University degree or college diploma in business administration, marketing or fundraising management with five or more years of job-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven track record of delivering revenue results through effective fundraising.
• Demonstrated ability to write successful funding proposals.
• Strong communication (written and oral), interpersonal and organization skills.
• Knowledge of and affinity to the Mission and Values of the Canadian Red Cross Society.
• Self-directed, acts with a clear sense of ownership and takes personal responsibility for decisions, actions and failures.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to coordinate work back plans and maintain records for multiple simultaneous projects.
• Ability to work within and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
• Strong ability to gather complex program information and summarize details in clear, persuasive language for a variety of audiences.
• Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating a collaborative approach with a willingness to engage constructively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of philanthropy practices and familiarity with donor-centred fundraising with a strong desire to improve donor experience.
• Experience and commitment to excellence in customer service in supporting partners, volunteers and donors.
• Discretion with sensitive and highly confidential information.
• Strong commitment to skills development and learning.
• Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Blackbaud CRM.
