South Seattle College is looking to hire a part-time Career Link Specialist to support our Continuing Education department.
Salary Range for this 50% FTE position is $33,862.40 to $40,823.00 annually, depending on experience.

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of High School Completion, the Learning Specialist will be working closely with the Career Link Director, Director of High School Instruction, and the Career Link team to support retention, data tracking, testing requirements, OSPI Open Doors compliance, and other initiatives.
This is a temporary (one year) grant-funded position. This part-time position is on campus and in-person with work hours typically scheduled Monday through Thursday 9:00AM to 4:00PM when Career Link operates. Remote work may be available with supervisor¿s authorization. The schedule may vary depending on program needs.
This temporary position is a salaried, exempt role governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with representation by AFT-SPS and subject to union shop provisions.

What you will be working on:
• Compliance:
• Work with Career Link staff to support efforts to maintain overall compliance with OSPI Open Doors 1418 regulations
• Maintain compliance documentation that meets weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual Open Doors 1418 requirements Understand and document Indicators of Academic Progress (IAP) compliance requirements related to Open Doors 1418 funding
• Student Support:
• Support Career Link efforts to recruit and enroll new students, including information sessions, student interviews, enrollment paperwork, and student testing
• Support young parents, undocumented students, unhoused students, and LGBTQ+ students during their enrollment
• Support students¿ efforts to access foster care, housing, health care, parenting resources, employment, food resources, and other essential services.
• Help students navigate local resources and the McKinney-Vento Assistance Act to receive assistance for essential living needs
• Coordinate with campus resources to connect students to services
• Develop and maintain effective working relationship with South campus resources, community partners and local schools
• Explain high school transcripts, college transcripts, graduation requirements, and transcript evaluations to students
• Work with the Career Link team to provide supports resources and develop student plans
What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
• Bachelor’s Degree with focus in education, school counseling, or social services
• Two years¿ experience working with at-risk youth
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, Google for Education Suite and web-based school management applications for data collection and tracking
• Familiarity with the compliance requirements of Open Doors 1418 programs including:
• Weekly and monthly attendance requirements
• Indicators of academic progress options and tracking
• Student eligibility requirements
• Choice transfer process and requirements
• Tracking program wide student weekly attendance
• Weekly required contacts with students
• Maintaining student contact records
• Preparing 1418 data for OSPI compliance reviews and audits
• OSPI graduation requirements
