We are looking for a Data Scientist, Product Analyst with a passion for collaborating with engineers and product managers who are focused on driving product growth for the Developer Division. Your efforts will help the organization get more information and insights out of the data produced by our products and experiences.
Our team partners closely with Visual Studio, VS Code, and Azure teams to understand the complete customer journey to include product adoption trends, engagement funnels, and user retention. We build explanatory models, conduct statistical tests, and apply causal methods to differentiate signal versus noise. We communicate through written reports and presentations with clarifying visuals to help product teams make data-informed decisions.

Responsibilities
• Work with product managers and engineers to dive deep into telemetry data and the user experience.
• Construct product metrics and statistical models to identify growth opportunities.
• Test out the tools and products Microsoft is building specifically for data scientists to provide feedback for our product and engineering teams.
• You will understand where to acquire the data necessary for your project plan and use querying, visualization, and reporting techniques to describe that data.
• You’ll also explore data for key attributes and collaborate with others to perform data science experiments using established methodologies.
• You will understand modeling techniques, select the correct tool and approach to complete objectives, and evaluate the output for statistical and business significance.
• You’ll also analyze model performance and incorporate customer feedback into its evaluation.

• 1+ year(s) customer-facing, project-delivery experience, professional services, and/or consulting experience.

Data Science IC3 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 – $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 – $208,800 per year.
