What is the Role?
We are looking for a Technical Designer to join our team. This is a Full Time, Temporary (3 month) role with the potential to turn into a longer engagement.
You will be responsible for:
• Accurate and detailed Technical flat sketching.
• Detailed garment measuring.
• Building and updating BOMs and Measurement Sets using best-practices methodology and specific brand How to Measure Guides.
• Collaborating with multiple teams to ensure cohesive, brand and price-conscious tech pack creation and maintenance.
• Attending and aiding in garment fittings with live model(s) and buyers.
• Independently identifying fit issues and workmanship challenges at all levels of sampling and providing thoughtful solutions and proposals.
• Working within the brand-specific design aesthetics, brand fit/body proportions, and construction guidelines to bring styles from concept to completion.
• Completing ad-hoc tasks and assignments as directed by management.
What is required?
• 5+ years work experience in Fashion Industry and working with garments.
• Experience working on apparel for Walmart is a plus
• Degree or certification in Fashion Design, Product Development or related field a plus
• Basic knowledge of materials, construction, and fit.
• Advanced computer skills including firm handle on Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop).
• 3D Browzwear experience a plus, specifically V-stitcher.
• Exposure to PLM systems like Flex PLM or Andromeda NGC.
• Possesses high sense of urgency, punctuality and timeliness in order to thrive in a fast-paced environment with short lead calendars (2-3 months).
• Ability to work under pressure in an environment of constant shifting priorities and change.
• Must have a flexible personality willing to take direction and change as business needs change/grow.
• Ability to manage workload and relationships effectively.
• Ability to sketch in Adobe Creative Suites and navigate Microsoft Office.
• Ability to handle and process fit comments and managerial direction.
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Grounded analytical skills to process fine details while also not losing grasp of the “big picture” and end-goals.
• Proactive, self-motivated, advanced knowledge of how to delegate and still meet deadlines with “get it done” attitude.
• Able and willing to lift and carry up to 20 lbs., perform frequent repetitive finger, hand and wrist motions, as well as bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
• Must be able to work in person at our Culver City office 5 days per week.
